This is the place where you can personalize your profile!
But, how?
By moving, adding and personalizing widgets.
You can drag and drop to rearrange.
You can edit widgets to customize them.
The bottom has widgets you can add!
Some widgets you can only access when you get a premium membership.
Some widgets have options that are only available when you get a premium membership.
We've split the page into zones!
Certain widgets can only be added to certain zones.
"Why," you ask? Because we want profile pages to have freedom of customization, but also to have some consistency. This way, when anyone visits a deviant, they know they can always find the art in the top left, and personal info in the top right.
Don't forget, restraints can bring out the creativity in you!
Now go forth and astound us all with your devious profiles!
My work may not be reproduced, copied, edited, published, transmitted or uploaded in any way without my express written permission. If in doubt, ask me about this matter before any of the above.
PLEASE NOTE: I reserve the right to include artwork I've done in my portfolio or in a demo reel, with credit to persons for any original characters of theirs that may have been used in the creation of said art.
The laws governing "intellectual property" have grown so expansive in recent years that artists need legal experts to sort them all out. Borrowing from another artwork--as jazz musicians did in the 1930s and Looney Tunes illustrators did in 1940s--will now land you in court. If the current copyright laws had been in effect back in the day, whole genres such as collage, hiphop, and Pop Art might have never have existed. The irony here couldn't be more stark. Rooted in the U.S. Constitution, copyright was originally intended to facilitate the exchange of ideas but is now being used to stifle it.
Art and ideas should always be on the legal fringes of intellectual property. It keeps them fresh and creative. This country was founded by those that thought with a fresh and creative mind. Those that wanted freedom to say and do as the pleased, without fear of law. Loaded with gray areas, intellectual property law inevitably does the opposite. It has a silencing effect, discouraging the creation of new works.
Should artists be allowed to use copyrighted materials? Where do the First Amendment and "intellectual property" law collide? What is art's future if the current laws are allowed to stand?
